Hello all, I am a big fan of German cars and really like Audis.
My wife is currently driving a VW Touran 2.0 tdi that is starting to get old and has regular problems. It is up to about 155k miles and the rear suspension is starting to give up now.

I am contemplating a Saab 9-3 estate. I did like the 9-3x, but the diesel version is not 4 wheel drive. This didnt make sense to me.

What are they like to live with? The ttid engine looks good in terms of mpg vs performance. What is not to like?

Any particular trouble areas to watch out for?
Is the x worth buying over and above the standard 9-3?

Thank you.

I've had a TTiD 180 Areo saloon for about 5 years now and would definitely recommend them. It's a great engine with plenty of power and so far no problems with it either.

Both SAAB 93s I owned suffered from more interior creaks and rattles than any other car I have owned. Very poor quality dash and interiors. A shame as the actual seats were good.

Agreed interior is no where near Audi/BMW quality, mines a 2008 facelift and rattles a lot annoyingly. Just little noises from here and there.

Can't argue with the fuel economy nor the price.

I have a TTID 93 sportwagon and it's been really good over the year and a half I have had . EGR valve being the only 'problem' I've suffered.

Had a TTid Aero Sportwagon since Dec '12 and agree on the comment ref interior creaks etc, but for performance vs economy vs price couldn't find much better! 15k miles done so far and no issues - albeit a lower than expected annual mileage might mean a change back to petrol....
