Anyone any experience of this? they are offering to upgrade from 150-207hp for 295 with a proven, dyno developed map. And.... better mpg too? Its worth it for the torque and i quote "The 1.9 TiD engines we can take from 150bhp up to 207bhp and from 236lbft torque up to 320lbft torque"

i dont know about celtic but theres a lot of people tuning that 1.9 engine in vauxhall,s alfa,s and saabs to name just a few, 207 bhp though is about the limit of whats safe on the 1.9
I had a vectra mapped with that same engine in a couple of years ago, dyno,d at 198bhp and really transformed the car

I have looked at a few remaps, but none of them get close to that, get it done then put it on the dyno. smile

Bsr:

Power: 151Hp 184Hp +33Hp
Torque: 354Nm 412Nm +58Nm

Rica:

Standard 150 hp @ 4090 rpm 320 Nm @ 1965 rpm
RICA 185 hp @ 3995 rpm 390 Nm @ 2000 rpm

Abbot only go up to 175bhp.

The question for me would be why the big tuners stop at 185 bhp, if its good up to 207, i just don't see it.
Would i get my car done by them, no sorry i wouldn't.

Interesting comments, especially that 207 is a safe limit. The same engine is used on the TTiD which can go to 240 apparently? Mind you 200 is prob enough without chassis mods.

the TTiD is a twin turbo and is quite different from the standard 1.9 unit,

I used Celtic tuning on my old Tid 150.
Certainly transformed the car. Also destroyed my flywheel within 6 months.

Looking back I loved it (not the bill for a flywheel) but it was possibly a map that was too aggressive.
Brother in law also had his X5 mapped at the same time and was very pleased until his turbo went.

If I did it again I would ask them to wind the map down a tad or two.

Thanks Monkey Business, I guess thats why most others go for 175-180hp, circumspection needed here. Mind you, how the world has moved on eh, I used to have a 900T16S state of the art petrol turbo at 175hp! do miss it though and I had that up at 230 for 108K with no probs whatsoever apart from excessive inside front tyre wear.

you can get a good deal on a Hirsch power upgrade and it's backed by Saab so you know its been done to ensure that the engine and parts can take the upgrade.

I've got my TTiD Hirsch'd from 180 to 200bhp and it's a very nice drive

the Hirsch power upgrade on my petrol Aero Convertible is superb and feels really progressive, but the acceleration in the mid range is remarkable, very addictive whooooossshhh

the trouble with the Hirsch map is its very conservative, i ran mine for 6 months then removed it and put a custom map on, the difference was unbelievable, the hirsch map felt how it should have come from the factory whereas with the custom tune it now feels like its a properly quick car
