Hi Guys, first time Saab poster so go easy smile

I had a 95 ES last year and chopped it in for a Mondeo Ghia X due to the high fuel consumption of the 95. I LOVED the 95 in every possible way. The only thing that I did not like about the car was the Automatic box, the wood dash and of course the aforementioned fuel consumption. I have always had a banger budget and the 95 cst me £550 as an MOT failure and cost a further £150 or so too put right (two tyres in that). I was happy with it before a Ghia X caught my eye.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I haven't got on with the Mondeo, the interior is crap, the performance is crap, engine reliability is apparently crap, the WHEELS leak air, the "leather" seats are more like vinyl etc. So basically I am in the classifieds looking at 95's again, i come across a few diesels, plenty of 2.3 SE's etc but the real bargain seems to be the Aero version.

Fuel consumption will not bother me with the Aero's and hopefully I can source a car with a manual box. There is a car reasonably local to me in a colour combo that I really like (Rosso Corsa / Crema hehe) and the price seems reasonable at £650. The car has done 180k miles (full service history) though and the mileage is really putting me off. If the car has been serviced and the previous owners have kept on top of the oil situation, is there anything to worry about at this mileage? I have a chap working for me who is OK with mechanics so could maintain stuff like the suspension and routine engine servicing, but is there anything terminal that is known to kill off cars of this age?

If I go and view this car, what should I look for in particular?

Finally, if anyone knows of any cars matching the above description, please point me in that direction. So far I have scoured here, Ebay & GumTree smile

we had a 2.0SE manual & now have an aero auto, the aero does better mpg than the 2.0 did (26 v 29/30)

Some good ones to be had, personally I would get a post '02 one & factor in the cost of a sump drop & clean just for piece of mind (my local saab indy does an engine service inc sump drop for around £200

This will give you piece of mind if it hasn't been run on fully sythetic oil which if it has a decent history fingers crossed it has.

After that just drive and enjoy.

Yup. Ours has been pretty reliable and cost buttons to insure.

No connection to seller.
