93 petrol to diesel....any good?
Discussion
Hi,
I had a 2000 9-3 TiD for 75K miles. It was a good workhorse.
The engine is an old Izuzu van engine, and nothing like the VAG unit, but easy to get mid 40's mpg.
Front end is obviously heavy, and aged suspension design means it doesn't handle that well.
If you liked the petrol (I also had a 9-3 Convertible for 12 months) then you should be fine, so long as you understand and accept the diesel limitations, it is the same car.
Feel free to PM me, if you have any specific questions, as I am sometimes an infrequent visitor.
Good luck.
Regards

Hi,
Had 2.0T 93 auto wagon. Brilliant. But 210 horses at front required very gentle starts. Got 31mpg on average. At end of agreement got aero 93 TTiD manual 6 speed. 180 horses. More manageable. Average 44mpg. No discernible difference in performance. Going to the outlaws which is 155 miles away. M6 and A14, get 55mpg. Previous in petrol was 36mpg. So I love the oil burner on all fronts.
