Thinking about taking the plunge and buying a 9 5 Estate - 2.0t - really nice condition, plenty of toys, low miles etc & good price.

Question - what is the parts availability like? Obviously not just consumables like pads, filters etc - I guess these are OK - but what about sensors, exhausts, windscreens, electronic bits? Shame to scrap a good car just because you can't source a lambda probe or similar....

Asking because someone I know with a 93 seems to think it's getting difficult?

Thanks!

I've not had any problems getting parts, Neo Bros, Parts for Saabs etc etc seem to have what I've needed

We've had thermostats replaced, also got the (apologies for incorrect terminology here) interior information screen fixed as nearly all the pixels had gone. Suspension and headlight bits have also been worked on with no issues.

wouldn'y expect you to have any problem for quite some time yet

the usual suppliers (Neo's, Abbotts, DCA etc) don't seem to be running out of anything yet and lots of stuff on the bay of dreams as well

Parts are officially still available - http://www.saabparts.com/en-gb/uk/

You will either get a bad one or a good one. My first 9 5 was good condition but a couple of months after buying it never stopped going wrong. Virtually everything that can fail on these did, cost me thousands.
The next 9 5 I bought was an Aero. So far (3 1/2 years) its turned out to be the most reliable car I've owned which includes a few German cars as well.
Never had a problem getting hold of any parts, just make sure you check and double check the car over, they're not difficult to work on either.

Thanks all - that's reassuring at least - as ever with these things not a good idea listening to all the bar room gossip....!
