Help needed,ECU
Discussion
2001 Saab 95 aero auto,A few days ago the dash lit up like a pinball machine and the engine light (ecu?)stayed on,i disconnected the battery for 10 mins and the car was fine until this morning.
The car just cut out but would start, rev then die again.
The recovery people plugged a machine into a plug under the dash and said there was 2 stored faults but was unable to read them so he cleared them, the car then started and ran fine but the engine management light has come back on and i think its in limp home mode?
I know its not the CPS as when it turns over the rev needle rises and its not the DI casette either as it is new and it does'nt smell.
The saab main dealer said they are fully booked for 7 days,i don't want to spend loads of money on buying bits it COULD BE but is there a way i could get the fault codes myself.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like a defective throttle body to me, I had the same symptoms with my first 9-5, and being new to Saabs at the time, paid big bucks (well, pounds) for a new throttle body & that was that. Knowing what I know now, I'd look for a good 2nd hand one. A new throttle body does not need to be tech 2 (Saab-diagnostic computer) matched to the car, so it's just a case of removing the old one & putting the new one on. The Saab part number for a new (or good 2nd hand) throttle body is 9188186.
Anyone with a OBD2 code reader can pull the codes - you don't need a Tech 2 for that.
There is also a chance that you have a split vacuum hose which means the car is sucking in air where it shouldn't - the Saab Trionic 7 air/fuel system is very sensitive to any leaks.
Where abouts in the country are you?
