Hey Guys,

I currently drive a BMW e61 530d 2005, and i'm looking to sell for something slightly cheaper. I like the looks of the facelifted 93 but had a few questions first.

How big is the boot on the saloon?
Is it easy to get serviced/parts?
What is the road tax on the 2.8 v6?

My options would be TTid, 2.0t or 2.8 v6 all face lifted so 2008 onwards. Only manual considered.
i have seen a nice 2.8 v6 57 plate with a hirsch upgrade, anyone know or tryed this?

Quite a few 2.8 V6 owners on UKSaabs, £460 for RFL IIRC. Boot is a decent size but not a patch on the earlier hatchback 9-3's. Hirsch upgrades are apparently very good.

I'm 99% sure its after 23rd March 2006 that the higher tax comes in so if your looking at a 07/08 car its definitely the 400+ quid job!
Mines a 55 plate, so the tax is more friendly..... and I'm loving it!! Especially since the remap which has just transformed it into soemething a lot more tasty! (They're not that quick standard tbh) They've got LOADS of potential these V6's biglaugh (Pretty brutal after a remap!!)

There's a lot of Hirshed cars on UKSaabs and one or two on here, I've gone with JZW for my remap, and I think theres only 2 of us with this done in the UK, the other is a TX. I'd definitely recommend a JZW remap but would also recommend an uprated clutch as its a huge jump in torque, plus get some decent brakes as my standard ones are now cooked after a couple weeks fun laugh

Parts are still pretty easy to get, the audio is crap on the earlier cars, as in dreadful!! And also a pain to upgrade to anything decent, but later cars (I think '07 onwards) have a different system.

Fuel is pretty shocking on the 2.8! I'd even go as far as saying its close to my old E55 AMG's mpg!! Luckily I'm only doing 5-6k per year these days so doesn't really bother me.

My 2.8 was great. Mapped it was easily as quick as my standard 335d.

It was terrible on fuel though but it was driven fairly hard. 22ish mpg, 30 on a good run.

22mpg isn't bad mate, I've come from a cayenne s with average of 10/12 mpg. the 530d atm averages about 25mpg about town.
