2001 9-3 Aero Tyres

Good afternoon, hope we're all enjoying Easter chocolate!

I have a Saab 9-3 Aero (as per title), and have heard that they don't get on too well with radial type tyres, and that the "flared" tread is much better to put on. The tyres it came with were all flared tread, and (possibly by chance) the new rear continentals look more flared than radiall as well.

Anybody have any knowledge on this, or is what I've heard to be taken with a pinch of salt?
(Car is remapped to 240hp if that makes any difference)
