2008 Ttid - Should i change the cambelt and waterpump? 79k..
Discussion
Mine has just done 80k.
Got a price from a Saab specialist of 366 including water pump & anti freeze change, will probably get it done in the next 5k.
Local Saab dealer wanted over 600, and would only include the water pump in the price after me insisting it had to be included! They say they would inspect it at time of belt change and recommend changing if necessary?
Good mechanic if he / she can advise if a water pump is good for another 80k!

If you're doing the first set of belts (on any car) which has reached 60K-80K then common sense is to get the Water Pump changed. Typically, the mechanic is taking it all to bits, so the additional labour is usually zero for installing the part and just the cost of the item. When I was speaking to my local Saab specialist, he advised to do it, as the bearing on the impeller can seize, then overheat and then goes bang!
As they say preventative maintenance is cheaper than "Oh Sh**" what do I do now? maintenance, lol.

I've just had mine changed at 89,000 ish. According to Saab, for my 2008 9-5TiD the cambelt should be changed at 90,000 miles. I'm sure the earlier Dame Edna 9-5's had different (shorter) intervals. I got mine done for approx £350 including Water Pump, Tensioners etc at an ex Saab dealer.
