We need a new car ASAP and plan on getting something new, which currently has a 12 week waiting list.
So in the mean time we need a replacement and have been offered a 9-5 linear.

I know nothing about them, except they are now bust!

It's a 2.0t engine. Low miles, 50,000 and 55 plate.
Asking price is £3k.

That seems a little over to me, but I am hoping that someone can give me a decent value?

We just need something that is going to be reliable, be easy to sell on and not cost a fortune in petrol. 30mpg+ would be about right.

Well the little you know is not correct - they are not bust! wink
The price asked is about right for a fine example with this mileage.
30mpg + will be a breeze.
To be offered this, at around the price, and haggle room, if it all checks out, you are a lucky chap indeed.

Thank you. Roughly what can be expected for economy?
Not sure what room there is for a deal, will have to ask.

I average overall about 34-35mpg with mostly relaxed driving on open roads. Around town is likely to be 28ish.

Your biggest issue will be selling it on. If you want something easy to shift after only 12 weeks get a cheap diesel hatch and put up with the crapness or buy something cheap enough to be binable.

I don't think so - the Saab market is vibrant at the moment, a bargain-field, particularly within its hoards of enthusiasts, as the public start to cottoned on to the fact that Saab continues on, as NEVS, and the separate business that will supply new spares for at least the next 5 years, and beyond.

The price is probably about right given the mileage and if it's in excellent condition. £3K is what I paid to a dealer last May for my '55' plate 2.0t Vector Sport which had 60K on the clock.

I've had mine 'noobtuned' so it has north of 200bhp compared to the standard 150bhp and I'm averaging around 32-33mpg.

Decided not to go for that one in the end. It has got me hooked at looking at Saab's though.
I'd really like to find a good condition ~'02 Aero estate for as little as possible. I'm kinda hoping that whatever we get will end up being good enough to keep, rather than simply having something while we wait for a new car.
