04+ 9-3 Convertible (are they any good)?
Discussion
Hi...
I have a little history with the SAAB Marque - Having had (way back in time) two 9000 Carlssons and then a 2001 9-3 Aero HOT convertible about 5 years ago and a 2003 9-5 Aero HOT about 12 months ago.....
Anyway, i fancy a 2003 onward 9-3 Aero Convertible now - but i remember the 2001 Convertible being so dynamical floored that i nearly never returned to the marque! Are the later convertibles much better when it comes to scuttle shake and torque steer etc?
Does anyone have any advice on things to look for on this later model of 9-3? and in particular the convertible? Is it only the Aero that comes with the double 5-spoke wheels and the lower spoiler kit?
Many Thanks.

Brilliant car - have a 2006 9-3 Vector convertible - turnkey reliability, 45mpg, fun in Summer with roof down, lovely to look at and drive. Handling far better and no scuttle shake compared to my bosses 2001 old shape 9-3. Roof is as warm and dry as a hard top too.
If Saab would only keep making them I would keep buying them, I've found my car and my car brand - best car I have ever owned and I have had Audi, VW, Jag, Toyota and TVR in the past.
Find a nice one and you won't look back. I'd be tempted by a fast petrol one if I didn't have such a long commute.

Yep
I'm on my second! The first was an 06 Vector and Id concur with the comments above. I traded her in for an 07 Aero in Nov last year only because my commute came down to 1mile each way and I didnt want/need a diesel car.
I am looking forward to a few drives in the country in the new one I can tell you
Took the Vector down to the SoF last year. Spent a week in the Alps doing the Cols. 2259 miles all in and 42.5 to the gallon (which includes loads of Col time in the Franch Alps). Fitted all the luggage in and a coolbox on the back seats (bonus). Zero issues, great fun
You wont regret it...I think they are great cars (and Iv owned a few exotics in my time too...se my garage on my profile)

Thanks for the feedback chaps.....
In the end, having remembered just how much my wife and children disliked the whole open top experience in the past. And now having to include the school run into my daily commute - I decided to buy this:
And I’m going to buy a 1st generation MX-5 for the very rare occasion i get to just 'go for a drive'....
