A few years back the nearside mirror (parking) began refusing to move in one direction then another. Switching to the offside revealed same problem.
It turned out to be an easy fix cleaning up the contacts in the switch in the offisde mirror mount
It's returned after this wonderfully dry year frown
A job when I have a spare half hour
but.....
The outside temp is reading 46C nuts
Anyone else had that one?

I expect that the external sensor may have come adrift and is in the bay somewhere. The mirror switch is usually down to dirty contacts.

Outside temp sensors fail - and stop the ACC working properly. I think PFS stock them.

My 9-3 Aero shiws about -6 when it's about 5 or 6 outside lol. Tried a new external temp sensor and it's still the same. Must be a Saab thing!

For anyone else doing the mirror switch
The switch pops out of the triangular moulding in the door but theres not enough cable length to get to the connector
The triangular moulding is held to the door with two plastic mushrooms with slide in centres. You can push the centres in but t looked to easy to lose them in the door. Instead carefully used a screwdriver through the switch hole to push them out from the inside.
Once the triangle is off you can disconnect the switch.
Dismantled the switch - it has four clipping points holding tow halves together as well as a cable strain relief.
Inside there are 3 silver plated conical things that tend to get covered in green oxide from the copper contacts
Scraped away the green and cleaned with wd40. Reassembly is the reverse of above smile

It unclips easily from top centre of the front grille and the wire unclips too.
Resistance is 1.5kohms in the garage - guess about 15C, cant find a thermometer
Resting it on a house radiator it goes down to 1.1kohms and eventually below 1k
Leaving it in the freezer for a while it goes back up to 1.7k
How does that compare with anyone else?

Putting it back in the car reads 50C which it was earlier before taking it out smash

You don't say what year vehicle you have. However, for the 2004 that I have, the resistance of the temperature sensor should fall between 1.8 kOhm (50 degC) and 169 kOhm (-40 degC). It sounds to me like you either have a bad sensor, or your wires are shorted together. I think if the resistance goes too low, you get the 50 degC reading.

You could do a few things.
1. Did you check fuse 8?

2. Unplug the sensor and see what the SID reads. The only fault code that I see listed in the WIS is the Open/Short to battery fault. Unplugging the sensor should set this fault (open), and then the display should read ----. If it stays at 50 degC, then your wiring is shorted somewhere. You could start by jiggling the wires around a bit and watching the temperature as well, but it does take some amount of time to update. Cycle ignition to get a quicker update.

3. Check the sensor resistance with an ohmmeter. At room temperature, you should see around 5 kOhm. (+/- 1k)

4. Check the connector with a voltmeter at the sensor. You should see 5V between the two pins.

Depending on the results of those, you could have a wiring problem somewhere. On the 04, there is a connector at the sensor, then another one (6 pin) behind the RH headlight. On the six pin, the sensor is on pins 4 and 5.
If its suposed to be 5kohm at room temperature then 1.5kohm probably shows 50C

New one arrived and a thermometer smile
6.6kohms at 15.5C
Let's see what it does

Yep that's great - it's 7C outside and it reads 7C on the SID
Easy device to change too smile

I thought from above links I might have to press and hold auto while powering off to recalibrate but not necessary so didnt try

From previous links is yours due to the sunlight detector?
It looks like they use it to adjust the ambient value
