9-3 Aero 2.8 v6 vs 9-5 Aero HOT
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm soon to be in the market for a new motor and I wondered if anyone on here has any experience with the 9-5 Aero HOT compared to the 9-3 Aero 2.8 v6? I used to have the 9-3 which I had remapped to about 275bhp but I was a little disappointed with the notchy gearbox (especially when cold) and thought the ride and handling was a bit jittery.
The mid range oomph however was great
I'm assuming that the ride in the 9-5 is a bit smoother and the handling a bit worse due to the car being a barge, but I won't be throwing it round corners so I'm not too bothered by this. I just want something a bit smoother than the 9-3 with the same mid range grunt. Do you think the 9-5 Aero would suit? And if so do I go Manual or Auto?
I would probably be looking at an 04-05 plate if that makes a difference.
And go easy, I'm new

I had the 2.8 9-3
The gearbox was far from nothcy. Was quite nice to use. Maybe yours was a bad one?
I changed the sprigs to some from Hirsch after the original one snapped and it made the ride/handling far better.
Well my brother had the same car but one year newer, and his was much nicer on the gear change than mine, so you are probably right. I always did find it strange no-one at the main dealer could find anything wrong with it. I'll have to remember that about the springs if I get another one, cheers. The gearbox was far from nothcy.
