This is probably something that Nice cup of Tea could help with?

My wife wants to sell her 900 Ruby for not a lot of money and I've got a lot of spares for the classic 900. There hasn't been any interest over on Saabscene afaik but it's to good a car to scrap. It's been a daily driver for the last 12 years and has the usual faults to prove it, lol. It's really great fun to drive and handles very nicely.

Where else can we advertise it, preferably where it'll be recognised as the classic it is? Thanks.

I'm surprised you haven't had a bite on UKS...

You could try Saabscene / Saabcentral / saabsforum but UKS is probably a better bet to sell on than those...

saabclub.co.uk is depressingly quiet.

Other than that, carandclassic.co.uk and on here are the best places

Just had a quick look and can't see your ad - linky?

Rather depressing seeing car's like saabstudent's old T16S currently up for sale for buttons... Was recently advised to get mine insured for £5k+ but I think I would struggle to find a buyer at the moment. Lucky I'm not selling.

Hi, I advertised it here:

http://www.saabscene.com/forum/threads/149178-For-...

Not a bite though, tiz a bit dissapointing. The car really stands out from the crowd if you know what I mean.

Does it have any MOT? I'll take it if so.

MOT until april and tax till the end of next month. It's at my wifes house, Long Eaton, Notts. Near J25 M1. We've parked it off road now.

Bloody hell - you are seriously underselling it unless it's rotten as a pear underneath. In good solid condition they are worth 10 times what you are asking and if it just needs a few bits of rust sorting then certainly in excess of £2k. (Sorry Royster wink )

I misread your original post and was looking on UKSaabs. UKSaabs is definitely a better place to advertisde, SaabScene is like a ghost town these days. There is a thread somewhere on UKS with all the Ruby chassis numbers and who has what! Also it needs some pics, especially the problem areas/rusty bits.

I was twitching a bit anyway but if you were selling it for the money I would be interested (despite already having too many cars and a baby imminent!)

What would worry me (and makes me sad) is somebody buying it and selling off the important bits and scrapping the shell. frown Maybe I can talk my wife into a replacement for her Puma...

Hi NCT,

It's not rotten underneath but has had a repair to one chassis rail. The doors are rusty at the bottom as are a lot of 900 doors. They're repairable or replaceable.

No problem! I though it was very cheap too, so if Boosted wants to try it on uksaabs (or here) at the market rate, then I'll gladly step aside. If not, my offer still stands. To be honest, I'd say it's worth a minimum of £1500 without seeing it.

Yup market seems really poor at the moment (not just for Saabs).

Looks like a deposit has been taken on my old one, selling at £2,500. Thankfully I sold it for a lot more than that a couople of years ago, otherwise I'd still have had it...

The Ruby's still here unfortunately. You'd think somebody would have wanted it by now. I can be pm'd if anybody is interested.

Bugger frown It's a crying shame - the price for a decent example is definitely increasing because good ones are rare - I see very few on the road these days. Trouble is, it seems that people just aren't buying them...

Graeme, can't believe your old car is going for so little. Mine's still not mint - will need some work around the driveshaft tunnels and the front in the next year or two and has a few bits of trim, but it's pretty good (and now, importantly, garaged).

Mike, I can't believe you haven't had a sniff on any of the enthusiast sites - crazy... What are you going to do? Can you SORN it until the Spring when the market might pick up?

Hi Martin, I don't know what ex-wifey will do, lol. Knowing her she'll scrap it as she doesn't believe it's got any real value. I keep telling her different. I raised the price a bit as I believe it's worth far more then I advertised it at but there weren't any takers so I've recently told her to lower the price to a midway place. I want her to get a realistic amount for it. Tax runs out at the end of this month so I think that'll be decision time for her. I sorted out all my 900 spares today, they'll have to go as well to make space for my increasing pile of 9000 spares, lol.

I really can't believe it's got to that stage frown

Is there nobody in the country wanting a half decent Ruby for billy bargain money at the moment? I really can't bear another decent car being scrapped for no good reason.

I have no space, no money, too many cars already, and a 39 week pregnant wife but if it comes down to her picking up the phone to the scrapman I'm on the verge of saying I'll give scrap money plus £50 if it is legal to drive away just to save the poor thing! 1 day insurance to get it home and stick it on the drive until my wife threatens to divorce me silly

Edit: did you put an ad on UKSaabs in the end? Way busier than SaabScene. A few pics always help too! As for rust on the chassis rails, whereabouts?

NiceCupofTea lives near me and we've known each other for quite a few years now. I run a business servicing MINIS but personally I drive 70s and 80s Saab turbos. I have space to take one more Saab (I have 4 already) but as I really wasn't even thinking about getting another car I'm really not prepared to make any great sacrifices to become the owner of your Ruby.

If you don't want to scrap it and you get no other interest then I can put it in my workshop and something good will happen to it.

Apart from the free 900s the cheapest 900 I ever got was £36.00 off eBay. I wouldn't want you to be out of pocket but as already explained, I really have no interest in taking it on so with that in mind all I will say is that I can offer a better alternative to sending it to the scrap man.
