I've just sold my hot hatch and looking for someone that can tow a small bike trailer and motocross bike with.

I've seen a 2005 9-5 2.2 TID Linear Sport Auto and a 2005 9-3 1.9 TID Vector Sport, both are around the same price but having never had a Saab before I'm stuck with what to go for?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

1.9 - stronger lump, less complicated, and easily tuned.

Yes, in this scenario I'd go for the 9-3 every time, because of the engine.

With the same engine in either car, things are less clear cut.

The 9-3 handles more sharply (partly undermined by the overlight steering which is a bit too keen and feelless around the straight ahead position which together with the passive rear steer and none-too-focused suspension makes the car feel 'looser' on turn in and less stable in a straight line than it really is).

The 9-5 feels far less like a 'GM' product, is less likely to squeak and rattle and generally a nicer place to be in.

Having owned a 9-3 1.9 TID (very good car), quick and smooth.

Now have a 9-5 Aero 2.3T, the 9-5 is a superior car build wise but the 9-3 does handle better been smaller and lighter.

What about looking for a V6 Diesel 9-5?

Much as I like the idea, I would strongly advise against that. That engine caused no end of trouble.

yes

When we were first looking at Saabs, I was seriously considering that engine. Then did some research and ran away and hid under the bed for a while.

The 93 ttid is a good compromise,it will be a late shape, which are the best built and the extra power and drive ability of the twin turbo diesel is great for tow ability.

Hi Guys I am thinking of buying a Saab 9-3 1.9TiD Vector Sport [150] 4dr Diesel Sport Saloon 2006, never had a Saab before though.

Does anyone who's had this car got have any advice on it e.g. how is it to drive? any issues mechanical/engine wise that youve had or that i should be aware of?

Also is the car known to have any major problems? I have read a few stories about engine failure?
Are parts easy to get hold off/affordable?

Finally I am looking for a used car under 90,000 miles what kind of price range should I be looking at? Ive seen one at £6000 and another similar milage one(75,000 miles) at £4300 (the price difference has sent some alarm bells ringing esp with the latter car i.e. could be something wrong with it? hence the price difference).

Any other advice about the car would be greatly apprrciated.
