93 Standard stereo advice

I am hoping to buy a 93 (04-07) in the coming months and I am looking for some advice on the standard fit stereos I have tried searching but nothing of any use came up.
From looking at adverts there seems to be a number of different models used. Am I correct in thinking that the one that is a sea of black plastic and buttons is the basic 4 speaker model and should be avoided? What other models are there, is the standard sat-nav any good and which is the better stereo to look for.

To be honest, the sound systems in Saab 93 of that era are pretty rubbish.. The ES 2-7 is Ok & can be improved by changing dash & door speakers. But a £100 modern system from Halfords would be vastly superior. Unfortunately those crazy Swedes built their own system based upon fibre optics and other muppetry which makes it near impossible to upgrade... They saw sense in the end & used standard din, but not then.. Satnav is about the same as any other integrated system of that era, ie nowhere as good as a £50 TomTom you can buy with your beans at Tesco!
If sound system is important to you, don't buy a Saab. Apart from that they are good cars and offer good value..
