I brought a saab 93 TID in January as I have been doing some big miles for work.

This is now changing and I fancy something quicker.

Thoughts are to Sell or swap my 2005 1.9TID Sport and look for a 93 Aero 2.0T or of possible the V6.

Wise decision or madness,

I know mpg will be massively reduced but that I can cope with.

Cheers

What about the TTiD instead, you'll gain extra performance and the mpg won't be too bad.

Ok so, what's recommended 2.0T or the V6.

Anything to look out for with them, what are the auto boxs like?

2.0t manual. Auto box isn't the best and you can get similar oomph to the 2.8t with a remap smile

So a 2.0T 210bhp manual with a remap.

Wonder if anyone out there wants a swap before I advertise.

IMHO - buy something from a manufacturer thats got a future, holds its value reasonably well & does not need a lfetime membership to the AA !!!!
Saercasm out of the way, id be looking at one of the german m/f's even if your budget means you have to go slightly older.

Going on my personal experience:

Had BMW's both 3series E46 and 1 Series that was 2yrs old when I brought it.

Both cost me alot more to maintain due to reliability that the Saab has, ok not had the saab as long but in the 6months I have i have driven 14k in it.

9-3SS Aero 2.0T - I'm getting around 40 mpg on my daily commute.
Reduced mpg? Yes, slightly.

TTID is way out my price range,

What I get for my 93 is that I have to spend,

Looks like it will be the 2.0T or V6 Aero.

Need to go take the cherished plate off and get it up for sale.

I have an 05 2.0T Aero rag top with Hirche re-map, and an 09 TTid Aero sports wagon.

Very easy decission, the 2.0T every time!

Yes, the TTid does a few more mpg, and isn't a slow car, but the way the 2.0T delivers the power is far nicer than the TTid.

Also I would be interested in knowing how you drive a 2.0T and get 40mpg (very slowly I would guess?), the manufacturers data states 30mpg, I generally get 31mpg on a run, max 33mpg.

+1

I get 26-27mpg out and about and roughly 31 on a run. (my wastegate actuator rod has been shortened slightly however)

Thanks for the replies all,

Mine is on PH for sale now, just need to sell it and the Aero hunt is on.

Had a couple of nibbles but one didn't believe a diesel would only have done 65k in 7yrs.

Oh well,

Well deal done and I now own a 9-5 Aero.

Its bloody brilliant, one owner car full Saab history and excellent condition.
