Recently lost the only key that I had for my 2000 X plate 9.3 convertible. Getting all sorts of horror stories about what I can or cant do to get out of my hole. One Saab dealer advised me that on thi age of car I have to swap the "twicer" unit and the ECU and advised me to scrap the car. Another quoted me £750 for a key, a barrell and a twicer unit.
An internet locksmith says that he can cut me a key from the chassis number but needs to send away for a code (presumably to Saab?) to program it.
Another advised me to get second hand ECU, twicer and lock barrel and key and he would supply a duplcate key.
The car has only covered 79000 miles and I have just spent £1400 gas converting it.I cant afford to scrap it or to spend another £750 on it,
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan

Best go to a Saab Independent dealer. They will be able to reprogramme the twice unit and a fob for no more than £100, I'd guess, including parts. Spares parts are guaranteed to still be produced for the next five years - but they will have to order, unless they have a spare fob hanging around.

Do you have a wallet with your car? Is there a spare blade of a key in it?
