Hoping someone can clarify the warranty position with my car. I've read that GM are covering warranties on pre 2010 cars - the period Saab were under GM ownership. Does that apply in the UK as well as the US?

Cheers.

Easiest way to get a straight answer is to speak to your local dealer.

Personally i'd doubt you'll get far with a warranty claim though as my local Saab dealership is selling their remaining new cars with only a dealer warranty and no manufacturers one.

My 09 9-3 is 3 years old at the end of next month.

I rang my local dealer last month as I was comming up to a service, and said 'if I had a problem with my car before the end of the waranty, say a gear box failure, who would pay for it'. Without hesitation he explained that i would be left with the bill.

To be honest, it was the answer I expected!

Not good news, very pleased that I am within a month of the end of my waranty, and not at the start of a 3 year waranty!

That said, this is my 3rd Saab, and I have only ever had minor things done under waranty

Mainly curious because GM in the USA are covering cars still under warranty that were built during their ownership. Not sure why it would be different in the UK? Not noticed any cars in Cardiff Saab recently so they may have closed. Might try a vauxhall dealer.

Apparently yes, don't have specific details but certain Vauxhall dealers are covering Saab warranty.
