I'm looking for one like yours at the moment and I think 3.5's a bit toppy, tbh - went to see an 04 82k similarly specced car at 3.5K, and an 05 88k car also at 4K last weekend.

I think you'd need to be sub- 3K to generate interest, and then brace yourself for offers - GLWTS.

Resurrecting this one a bit, and O/T a little, but that 82k miler wasn't in Canvey, was it? Seen one identical on AT and going to have a look tomorrow. What put you off?

Might be wink

Tyres needed - 3 different types currently (unless you were happy to keep the two decent budgets on there), discs needed v soon, service needed - also seems to have been run on semi-synth since last one, judging by the price of the oil from the local garage who serviced it, corner of driver's bolster starting to wear through, RHS folding mirror doesn't fold, not enough leeway on price.

I took my usual fine-toothed comb with me hehe

Against that, it's a nice colour (actually espresso black metallic, not flat), decent spec., paintwork's OK, and salesman John's a decent bloke, but he doesn't OK the price.

Hmm. That's a shame. Although, none are particularly insurmountable. Still tempted to have a look. Discs are an easy DIY fix, and the needing a service is something I've come to expect from buying used cars. Plus it's reasonably local and should be able to px the current box, so I'm willing to trade off a little for potential simplicity of purchase.

Thank you for your info though. Very helpful!

No worries, if you're handy with a spanner it could be a good 'un - I'd certainly have bought it if they had been more flexible on price.

Short journeys done on semi nagged at me, too (it's been a v local car to the garage for the past few years after its initial life as a co. car).

I haven't had a chance to get down there in daylight yet - but if they've had it a couple of weeks then it should be there a few more days.
Insurance check has come back ok, which is nice. Price seems pretty good compared to similar on eBay or AT, so I'm hoping it's not going to be cheap-ish for a reason. But it's got the full spec, which sounds good. If it looks good, I'm gonna offer £3k plus the Alfa, if they tax it for a year and fill the tank. We'll see.

I'd love a Dame Edna but I can't stretch that far, there was one advertised on AT for £3.5k, 55 reg, 100k miles, but I think they realised how cheap it was and banged the price up £500!

Went to see that one, too biggrin. Wrong wheels (16s with 215/55s for some reason, which cannot cope with 260 bhp), bit scruffy with badly scratched leather in the back - child seat I presume, bumper popped, wheel arch liner broken, but a generally sound car, but base spec. They operate out of an unpaved yard, and the test drive was terminated when they told me that they weren't insured...

Made a cheeky offer which they declined.

WRT the Canvey Island one, they've had it for a lot longer than 2 weeks BTW - I only went to see it when they dropped it to 3.5K from 4, with the intention of moving it on quickly.

Work (and christmas shopping) is being a bh and I can't get anywhere near that end of the county in daylight. This weekend is Xmas, so I'm gonna stick a call in to them and see when they're open over the break. I will get down there at some point though...!

Update:

Went to see the Canvey one. Looked good, went well - the mirrors folded for me! - got offered a half decent part-ex price for mine so took the plunge. Should pick it up at or just after the weekend, fresh MOT, tax and air-con service being done. Very pleased. Now need to learn what all the buttons and switches do!

ETA - finally bought one this morning, too.

Older, higher miles, but absolutely excellent, nothing to spend for a year, and warranted from a Specialist.

Oh, and LPG'd, too, which will make a difference to running costs smile

How anxious are they to sell this now - just reduced to £2994. Bet they wish they had taken my £3K offer of 3 weeks ago!

"It would be £6K at a Saab dealer sir"

"Yes, but this isn't a Saab dealer, is it?!
