Looking at a 9-3 Aero cab for my father, he used to have a 9000 Aero and then a 900 2.3 cab. I think he missed the turbo on the 900 so a 9-3 Aero seems like the best bet, an auto suits him best these days.
What is there to look out for?

thats expensive, you can pick up cheaper ones - look on autotrader.
check the roof is fully operational, and usual turbo issues like blue smoke etc. i have a saab aero hardtop with ecu remap, and now its done 150,000 miles , things to look out for on cars when they are tuned up are the driveshafts, DI cassette, and ensure its been fully serviced etc .
