lol.

I was looking for an estate but I suppose a saloon would do if the seats folded.

Yep 9-5s since '98 onwards the seats fold as standard, all have a ski hatch too.

9-3 on 2006 has ski hatch and folds flat. Properly impressed with space it offers

But I think the 9000CD has fixed seats.

That's a good point, the 9k-era saloons were all fixed I think? The hatches, including the Aero folded.

I also like the neat little handles at the top of the boot that release the seat catches.

The fact that the 9-3SS has folding seats was one the reasons I went for a Saab over a BMW or an Alfa. Neither the 156 or the 3 series saloons feature folding seats frown

Ditto. Those handles are a neat touch, and the seats in mine fold properly flat, not 45degrees of uselessness.

That said, the boot is that vast that you rarely need seats down. My record for boot capacity is:

2x Nissan 200SX gearboxes and 1x Nissan 200SX diff. 2x headlights. and an assortment of smaller items all in the boot, seats up. 250mile run up the motorway

Had a funny look or three at Ikea when I bought some tall book shelves. The sniggering kind that goes with "he aint gona get them to fit in the boot...how is he going to get them home ha ha ha". Pop the backs down, they are split, push the passenger seat forward and bags of room and in they slotted.

The seats lift up as well for a flat level area.

SAABs are impressive on load capacity.

I went from a 2005 Focus estate, to the 2006 9-3SS, and was worried that I'd be stuck when it came to load lugging......... No chance.

Only difference is the lip and drop down, as opposed to a flat entrance.

I did measure the length before I went.

But four up going to Ashford on holiday (eurostar) and it coped well with all the baggage where it belonged. No "tuck this under the seat" and "have this bag between you".

yeah mines done 4 up and baggage fine.

Only "critisism" I could have is that the front seat legroom being so luxurious, means rear leg room is somewhat limited.

(I'm 6ft7, so have the seat right back)
