2005 9-3 Aero; this message has permanently popped up on the SID. The s/l still engages/disengages when I put the key in or out of the ignition, and the car still starts and runs ok, but I can't locate any fault. Have stopped using the car for the timebeing.

The fuse is ok, and I've looked under the steering column at the lock mechanism and everything seems fine; no loose plugs or wires. Any know of a remedy? Or is a dealer visit on the cards with it being a seemingly electrical fault?

Is your battery OK? Have heard of lots of issues like this being due to a low voltage/failing battery. Worth a quick check.

Well the problem seems to resolve itself for the time being, however I read about the battery problem as well. I think that might be it as the car has started to take it's time to start some mornings so will keep an eye on it.
