Just wanting to start a bit of reasonable debate on this topic. It strikes me that Zolder are not too bothered about having the TVR Car Club to hold a trackday there these days, after changing the date and imposing a draconian noise level on the day (95Db!) perhaps it is time to consider an alternative venue, Spa or Zandvoort maybe?? I realise that the Van De Valk motel at Heerlen has been a superb host venue over the many years that this excellent event has been running, and no doubt there are many compelling reasons why the current arrangements should continue, as I say above I'm just interested in peoples opinions, especially our friends in the TVR Car Club Holland who run the event so well. Thanks again for this year, and I look forwards to visiting with you all again in 2008!
Best regards, Tony Abrams

I understand that the Dutch organizing committee is looking at alternatives, Spa is among them.

Great, just as I finally get to learn the circuit (after 26 years eek), you want to change it.

Brands Hatch may be better but it's a long drive back to Heerlen from there hehe

It is a fact that the organising comittee is investigating possibillities for an alternative track.

Personally i would love to do Spa with the TVR Car Club, however i doubt whether we wouldn't have any availabillity questions (it is partly public road) and although i consider Zolder a rather technical track it might be a bit safer especially for the little less experienced....

Zandvoort would suit perfectly and since we are used to sleep some 30/40 km from the track, the sleeping possibillities shouldn't be a problem either, vd Valk is pretty well represented in the Dutch Market.

My racing heart however screams SPA SPA SPA SPA SPA!!!! (and there are many beautifull Hotels in the Ardennes as well!!!! and it is a beautifull surrounding for the treasure hunt, not that i ever took part....)

Zolder- discussion: some things to think about :
1 ) Zolder did not changed the date with one week ; they only can confirm the final date after the announcement of the international racecalendar in half of Januari : The truth is that the former organiser in the dutch club was a little too early to pronounce the final date
2) Noise level 95dB :this a new law since 1995; it's not Zolder but the flemish gouvernment: a good and decent exhaust will be ok
3)Spa-Franchorchamps will costs about 28.000€ a day +7.500€ insurance for trackday clubs etc... : Zolder about totalcost of 15.000€
4) Zandvoort does not have a hotel with 90bedrooms
5) Fastest Laps can be clocked at Zolder circuit ; THIS is NOT allowed on, Trackdays in UK + groups from 25cars maximum ,one at the time,
6) important : Dates for the CM 2008 Friday 20 or 27th June 2008 : this will be confirmed at the end of January 2008: NOT EARLIER!!!
7) NEW Location for the nights and dinner
New Hotel in 2008 : Hotel Residence Stiemerheide( and another hotel within a distance of 2miles ) in Genk : only 10min from Zolder and both are Four-Stars quality

So if you still want to change to another circuit; just give me some very good reasons and how much the TVR friends want to pay more for a three day event

A good and decent exhaustsilencer on your beautiful Tuscan racer will probably costs 350£: you can drive all day without warnings and black flags

I really enjoy my Zolder trips. I'd like to keep the Zolder trackday as it is, but if the TVRCCNL were to organise two meetings, say one in April and one in June/July; and say one at Zolder as usual and another at say Zandvoort (even if that were like a normal grouped session track-day), I'd do both.
I'm also happy with the Heerlen Hotel (it's nearer MS Karts and the 'Ring) - does Genk have an old town?

At the weekend I found half-a-dozen consumpties for Motel Heerlen.

I hope they don't change the venue - beer is more important!

If it is so important, how come you managed to mislay the source of 6 of the afore mentioned pre-funded items?

Or was it dedication to consumption that caused the problem?? wink

Daftlad...now on my fourth day without beer ......and I'm in Belgium. irked
