I have booked Zolder and have just checked the db level and it is only 95db which is very low, had the Griff static tested and it was 105db and I,am concerned that I will get black flagged as I did years ago in my Cerb and its a long way to go to get black flagged, I don,t intend to get trackday silencers as I do not intend do loads of trackdays only the odd one, any advise would be great, or if anyone has got a set they would lend me would be great

You are right to be concerned. Zolder are VERY draconian on noise. If you are 105Db static, you WILL fail. I am 99db static, and I still fall foul of the old boy with his black flag and number board. Two options. Drive around at low revs, or find a solution. Also Zolder dont like "add-on" cans at the back of the car. So you need inserts or something which doesnt overhang.
Bummer I know, but it is a long way to go and a lot of money to have the fun cut short.

I was black-flagged at 95.5dB in the Aston a couple of years ago. I know all the theories about backing off just before the 'huts' but in reality it doesn't work if you want to have a fun.
I went last year, only because we had booked a hotel in the Ardennes for a couple of nights afterwards, but not this year, which is a shame as I've been going since 1982 and it's a good weekend.

I've been flagged a few times over the years (sometimes twice on the same day) and I've never yet had to park it. Like most Wedges, my car is comparatively loud - cant remember exactly but over 110 static. Only once I've had to resort to an exhaust insert. For me the backing off option works. Plus it doesn't affect the acceleration test, hill climb or slalom.

I would really appreciate it if someone could point out the location of the sound meters, as I didn't realise that the three events above were effectively immune. I spent most of the day short shifting at 4k which while not ideal when you have a 7.5k redline, didn't stop me having a whale of a time. Mid afternoon I let rip and it wasn't long before the black flag came out. At this point an hour before the track close, I put on the track day cans that extended by nearly a foot. Whether they just ignored them or didn't see them I still don't know.Last year my oil cooler sprang a leak a few days before, so I missed it. This year my rad had the decency to spring a leak on the way back from Anglesey last weekend, so plenty of time to get the car ready. Roll on Zolder!
I was fine last year never backed off at all and at brands hatch the static noise test was 108db and did not even get on track, I will be fine this year as I am taking the T350 with standard exhaust, number 7 should know where the meters are

I am puzzled by this thread.
Bedford Autognome is strict at 101dBA static, 87.5 dB A drive by.
I went recently and on a cold damp morning me, and about half the field, failed the static test, in my case even with bolt ons I was 103 dB A.
They let us all through rather than face a riot, with a stern warning that anyone who failed the 87.5 dB A drive by would be sent straight home. Only one car, an Exige, got sent home.
That just doesn't correlate with the noise limits above. If Zolder drive by is 95 dBA, then anyone who can get on a UK track day will be ok.
Now tell me what I am missing, please.
PS anyone who wants to borrow my 2.5 inch (Chim/Griff) bolt ons is welcome though I did read your comment about Zolder not liking them.

I think the point is that not everyone could get on at a uk trackday without additional silencing, but it's still possible to run at this event without additional silencing. Bedford Autognome is strict at 101dBA static, 87.5 dB A drive by.

Yes, but not for very long.I went out for the first free driving session, and tip toed round short shifting at 4k. I was black flagged almost immediately at 96.3dB.
Fortunately the individual events seem not to be affected by noise testing, so everyone let rip, much fun.
For the final free driving I short shifted at 3k and was left alone by the man with the black flag.
I found out what it's like to be quick in corners but held up by other cars, who then power away on the straights, just to catch them in the corners again - very frustrating.
Nice photo got anymore you can email me, I can see why I could not catch him passenger window down causing drag
My car was awesome round the track, I was getting faster as the day went on but I admit to being a bit nervous as I did not want to crash it again as I doubt the insurance company would pay up again, but she was fantastic, would love to see it being driven by someone more capable than me, she has a 4.5 from TVR Power and it is just what I wanted blooming quick
