Steinmarder - any tips to get rid?
Discussion
I have a little furry friend living somewhere in the loft. Now the snow is here I can see his tracks across the garage and onto the house roof but I can't see where he is getting in. He is a PITA for the following reasons:
-lots of scrabbling about at midnight and 5am
-damaged both our cars (thankfully he is only getting at the noise insulation under the bonnet)
-carcasses in the attic...
So, anyone successfully got rid of one of these little guys? I have tried using a live mink trap but no joy, nomatter what I put in it he won't go near. Over the last year I have provided him with a nice buffet of ham, egg, jam, peanut butter bread etc etc. Still no joy.
Any ideas chaps?

ALl the smell orientated repellants DO NOT work! dog hairs, urine, toilet blocks etc...
there are only 2 types which do work and they're expensive, but less expensive than a fire on the autobahn or no brakes.
1) ultrasonic emitters cost around €500-1000 and can mess with your car electronics so get them installed by a proper company
2) electric shock emitters price as above, works with a couple of thousand volts which give the animal a belt as soon as it tries to climb into the engine space

get a cat.
We have two cats, however based on the size of this mother I think it would mueller the pair of them. If I could train the cats to do some sort of tag team effort it might work. However, with cats being cats I'm sure one would watch the other one getting killed and then get snuffed out. Gassing Station | Germany | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
