I need to buy a couple of cheap adult bicycles on Monday in Aachen. Is there anywhere anyone could suggest. I was hoping to find something either secondhand or a cheap Chinese bike from a hypermarket.

Is there a German equivalent of Halfords in Germany?

Any assistance appreciated.

Check out different "Baumarkt" chains, they do not only supply Home-building & construction stuff,
but also seasonal stuff for gardening, barbq and cycling (cheap price [and quality])
http://www.google.de/search?q=Baumarkt+Aachen&...
Good luck with calling these, and more luck if you get someone on the phone that speaks english.
"Guten Tag, haben sie Fahrraeder in ihrem Markt? Wie teuer sind die Fahrraeder?"
Bauhaus, OBI, Rewe, Praktiker are the usual suspects, not sure about Max Bahr.

Also try the chains, Aldi sometimes have them as do Kaufland and others...

Try http://www.flizz-eurobike.eu/. The address is "Am Gut Wolf 9" in "52070 Aachen".
Or http://www.boc24.de/. The address is "Krefelder Str. 216" in "52070 Aachen".

Good luck

Many many thanks to all the responses. I needed the bike to comply with a ferry crossing booking to get back home to the UK during the current travel chaos. I found 2 bikes in Aachen but ended up not getting them as the trains would not take them.

Isn't the internet great in times of need.

Many many thanks once again. I hope I can help others out the same way one day.
