Getting to the 'ring

My usual Le Mans group are heading to the 'ring in May this year and I'm in need of some travel advice. They'll all be taking the Eurotunnel and heading straight there, but I'm working in Lyon and need to find my own way. How easy is it to get to the ring by public transport? Not practical to take my own car and a one way hire is ludicrously expensive. Any ideas folks?

You can take the train from Lyon to Mayen ,
info at www.bahn.de , there is a dropdown window for languages top right.
Every morning at 9:15, and only then,
there is a bus from Mayen to the Ring, line 344.
Maybe you can ask someone at the tourist info at the city hall,
if this info from the Ring Site is true, and where the bus starts.
