nordschleife 24
Discussion
I've been told that the 24 hour race is provisionally going to be held the weekend of 9/10th June in 2007. Can anyone confirm this? Here is the official website http://adac.24h-rennen.de/HOME/tabid/ There is a forum on there that I cant make out as I cant speak any German! Any help much appreciated as I'm trying to book my travel there at the moment and trying to coordinate with the Le Mans 24 hours that is definitely going ahead the week after (16/17th June).
Had a brief read through the forum - it starts out with a lot of speculation, over the course of September multiple car jornals in Germany hinted at the 7th through 10th of June weekend and towards the end one of the contributors claims the local section of the organising club has confirmed this date.
Struggling to find any information about this event on the net. Three things I want to know. Firstly what is the best campsite to stay on? Secondly, will I have any problem turning up lunchtime friday, paying for camping and tickets on the gate and actually finding a space big enough to pitch the tent? Thirdly, is there any facilty for English speakers to follow the race out there?
I'm sure the answers to these questions lie within the forum at the top of this thread. Axels, you came up trumps for me last time, any chance you could do it again? Anyone else out there willing to help an ignorant first timer to the Ring?

I spoke with our contact over at the Ring yesterday and was told that the 24 hour will be from Thurs 7 to Sun 10 June 07.
I imagine that will be made official fairly soon.
Something that may be of interest to you........
We are currently putting together a Nurburgring 24 package to include - channel crossing, camping/hotel options, use of VIP lounge of one of the race teams (which means you'll have access to breakfast/lunch/dinner/midnight soup so you won't have to rough it too much!). There is also more involved within this package, details of which will be made available as soon as possible. We're hoping to get the whole thing released in early January.

The date has been confirmed on 3 November here: it's 7. to 10.6.2007
June 7 is a bank holiday in Germany, btw. You're probably quite late then turning up on Friday noon
Here's camping information in EN, probably still from the 2006 season. You could drop them a mail to see if they do reservations on one of the temp camping grounds? tiz@n...
These are the temporary camping areas.
This is the fixed one at Müllenbach.
I can't recommend any, since I've never had to camp there; but I'm sure all of them do party all night. One of the temp. ones directly at the track are probably one of the best bets though

Thanks guys.
Darren, we won't go in for the whole tour as we have travel booked already and we're off to Le Mans after the event. Perhaps you could PM me once you get all your information together as I may well be interested in parts of your package.
Bodo, great maps. Much appreciated. I am a bit concerned that all the sites will be full up on the Friday when we arrive but, hey, I'm sure we'll squeeze in somewhere! Don't suppose you could recommend any english speaking forums that would be able to give me a bit more detail about the campsites, in particular which is going to be the best one for atmosphere and space (given our late arrival)?

I've looked here, and the general concesus is, that Brünnchen or Pflanzgarten are full one day before they officially open - on Monday! ok, maybe it's scaremongering.
Others say that you can get the last spaces on Friday noon at Breidscheid or Adenauer Forst because they are so remote. Klostertal fills up Wednesday noon allegedly...
Wippermann has been recommended in another thread since this is an interesting section of the track. Müllenbach is away from the actual track, has the best infrastructure since it's permanent, but costs more.
Personally, I wouldn't worry when you're arriving Friday noon. You'll need some time finding a place (try the remote areas like Adenauer Forst IMHO). It appears that none of the camping areas shall be depressive
