TUV expiration dates and seasonal insurance

I have an Elise on seasonal plates which run Apr-Oct. Today I brought it in for it's TUV HU/AU which it passed with no problems (hurray). So the paperwork comes back with the next due date as you would expect as May 2017, however the license plate sticker is for Dec 2017. During the last TUV the exact same thing happened, expiration sticker is 6 mths after the actual expiration date. I never noticed until I get home so don't get the chance to ask why. Any ideas why this is? Just curious really....

On a side note this was in my local Euromaster, I told them it was a "Rechtslenker" and hoped this wouldn't be a problem, the response I got was "as long as it has a steering wheel it's fine with us"

are you sure the sticker is Dec? They all have the solid blob at December, but the actual expiry is upwards, ie depending how they have rotated the sticker

Thud, as Jason said it's the month which is at the 12 o'clock position which gives you the expiry date (and there's NO leeway naowadays!)

Aha! So that's it. May is indeed at the 12 o'clock position. I've been a numpty because the other two cars in the house go for their TUV in December so I assumed the black mark showed the due date!
