Stolen car

I purchased a German reg. car a few days ago and have both parts of the log book. I have tried to reg. the car in France and they are saying the vin number is reporting the car as stolen. How can I check this please.

You might try the Police or registration Office (Zulassungs Stelle), but get more info first,

chances are if your car is really stolen it might be confiscated as evidence without compensation,

you also might have to ask questions wether you were involved in the crime.

I never had this or did this, maybe someone else from this forum can give more/better advice.
