Bike stolen in Munich
Discussion
Hi all...
I'm posting this on behalf of a friend of mine who has just had his Boardman cyclocross bike stolen in Munich.
Normally I'd think you'd never see it again, but I don't think Boardman have any distribution in Germany so it is probably quite distinctive which gives a glimmer of hope that it can be tracked down.
Apart from ebay.de what are the common second hand websites in Munich/Germany to check? Any other advice worth knowing when trying to track down a bike?

Defo report to the police, if he has a pic and the frame number it would raise the chances - don't laugh, they are actually very good when it comes to bike theft.
I take it it was a rather special bike so I doubt it will show up somewhere obvious like Ebay. If it wasnt (that special) your friend should also have a look around the tube stations in the vicinity where the bike was stolen - sometimes they are only "borrowed" for "transfer" (happend to me twice, once locked with a cheap numerical lock once foolishly left unlocked - both old bikes though).
Don't know if that works but might be worth trying: http://www.fahrradjaeger.de
Regards
Felix

Thanks Felix.
He's reporting it tomorrow. Glad to hear they take theft seriously, I certainly got the impression that the Polizei deal with minor matters well from when I was living in Cologne.
I hold out a bit of hope it might be traced. It's not a special bike as such (worth ~£1000), but it will be a very rare bike in Germany - I can't see another one of the same brand on ebay.de. It was stolen from a secluded area of his work car park so I think its unlikely to be someone just looking for a ride to the u-bahn.
Thanks for the site info, I'll check it out.
