my first speeding ticket in DE
Discussion
Two weeks ago I had a very pleasant weekend riding in the Schwarzwald region with a mate. Today I get the bad news on the doorstep, 92km/h in a 50 zone. It's a fair cop so I'll fill in the sheet and return it, and I believe the likely fine is EUR 160. I'm on a UK licence so I hope I'm safe from the ban, anyone have any idea?

Was it 92km/h after tolerance or before? After will mean €200 + admin fee so around €230.. Plus. 1 months ban. Are you living in Germany or UK?
If in Germany still get the ban, and have to give your licence to the authorities, at a point in time no longer than 4 months after the date of the fine..
If in UK you will get the ban still but unless you return to Germany during the ban and get caught again, nothing will happen..
Either scenario the 2points will be recorded in Germany...
Could be a ban I'm afraid. Normally when it is just a fine they send a payment slip with the first notification letter. If you get one you will be asked via letter to bring your license to the local police station within a certain period of time together with the letter. Copper takes it off you, puts it in a safe and asks you to come back in a month. A mate had this recently in Bonn and said it was all fairly amicable.

Oh well, no big deal as I cycle to work most days anyway. It was a fair cop after all, normally I'm pretty sensible in the 50 zones - it's a bit embarassing and stupid really, doing (indicated) over 100 in a 50.
I suppose, for many people it takes the whole month without the license to come to such a conclusion. But things like this happen to the best of us ;-)
Summer is over now, but the thing I did, when I had to pause driving for a month, was to give back the license when I was flying to holiday anyway.
