Verwarnungsgeld
Discussion
Does anyone know if there is a Gesetz in germany that states a Verwarnung must be served within a perticular time frame? I have just received (5/2) a Verwarnungsgeld from 27/12/13 for 126kmh in a 120! I am quite pissed off to be honest, not least that the letter has taken over 34 days to process and I was 5% over the limit! What the hell is going on in Germany ATM regarding speeding?
Time limit AFAIK is 3 months from the date of the "offence". It ain't gonna cost much for 3km over the limit (3km toleranz, used to be 10%, those were the days ),I think €30?. No points though
As to why they're getting stricter of late: the local authorities are cronicly broke, and every little bit helps..In most cases it has absoslutly fkall to do with safety, it's just a way of raking money into the bottomless pit of local authority financing. Don't even ask how much in fines I've paid since I've been living here (since 1983) Welcome to germany

Thanks. I had a look last night and found the 3 month rule mentioned several times. The fine is only 10€ and is only my 3rd this year so, all in all, not too bad.As to why they're getting stricter of late: the local authorities are cronicly broke, and every little bit helps..In most cases it has absoslutly fkall to do with safety, it's just a way of raking money into the bottomless pit of local authority financing. I remember the 10% tolerance as well and I have only been here since 2010! Not great but a small price to pay for the derestricted sections I suppose.
