I have ended up coaching kids at our local club as of this Friday. I don't suppose anyone has a list of German rugby terms (scrum, line out, ruck, maul.....)? Google has not given up the goods.

I have the playing positions ok but unless I work out the game words this is going to be a long training session on Friday smile

Been in rugby in Germany now for over 35 years, was also a senior ref. The majority of people in rugby in Germany use the english terms, only pigheaded ones use the badly translated (i.e invented) terms. Continue using the english for the good of rugby and the education of the few pigheaded!!!

That's a big help- thanks. I assume passieren is used for pass? How about tackle, anpacken?

I'm sure when I get into it I will get a better understanding of how many English terms are used in the Bonn club.

It will have to wait a while longer though as the mini ice age this week has cancelled training. This weather needs to seriously improve soon as the Elise seasonal insurance starts in two weeks....

Pass - Pass, ein Pass geben (passieren is to pass someone i.e. with a car)
Tackle - Tackle, anpacken means to grip/grab
Back Feet! - Hinterste Fuss beachten!
Dropkick - dropkick

NB a lot of Germans cannot understand the idea of being ONside, as they follow the poor mans game. OFFside ie usually understood...

Thud, also an e-mail on the way to you!

"Ok under 12 lads, let's see if we can use this egg to score us a tranny". I'd be in the nearest Gefängnis before I got the next sentance out.
