A few weeks ago the ADAC did a great job recovering my car and caravan after a intercooler hose blew. They gave us a hire car to complete the journey - all great service as part of my ADAC plus cover. However, today I received a letter apparently asking if I have breakdown insurance as part of my car insurance policy :

Anyone know what they are angling at? I'm not sure I like the look of this. I can sense my car insurance premium bloating for next year....

Thanks

..and I do indeed have Kfz-Haftpflicht-Plus on my insurance but I would like to know what the ADAC want it for before I give them my details.

Sounds to me like they are looking to see if you went against the ADAC GTCs so then can claim some of their money off your insurance company...

That´s usual business. if you have the adac plus card and they rescue your car, they want to know if you have another insurance contract that covers things like this. if so, the adac may get in contact with them in order to discuss which one of the two contracts pays for what. I personally would opt for 'no other insurance (for that particular incident)' and leave it as it is.

I am with you on this one. I have ignored them for now so we will see what happens next.

They are just asking if you have any additional/double cover. They have already settled everything else. It's standard procedure before closing their files - ignore it.
