Am a fairly frequent visitor to France, I like to keep online for social reasons (need an occasional fix of PH, and sadly Facebook, together with GPS and scamera updates). I stay in a family home without broadband (or landline) and cannot abide by "MacDo's" - sadly in recent visits I have parked outside the local maccie-d and hooked up to their wifi, but in a Z4 this is impractical and inconvenient (it is a 25 mile round-trip, and I cant go online whilst having a few sherbets smile)

What are the options (and cost) for pay as you go broadband access via a laptop?

If it is region sensitive, I stay in Franche Comte - specifically the Doubs departement (25) - nestling against the Swiss border.

Thanks for any steers

Most of the mobile companies do a dongle service on either subscription or pay as you go.

I'm not sure of your circumstances, but with certain mobile phone packages you also get one free.

The best thing is to go to the nearest large "centre commercial" and ask around. There will be at least a few different places offering this.

Circumstances are that I am UK based on a Vodafone £20/month package with the usual Passport option, I am unaware of any cheap UK option, and assume that it would be cheaper to use a French-based package in France.
