Apparently Sky doesn't have distribution rights in France so legally you can't watch your British Satellite TV over here. However there are plenty of English speaking companies who will supply all the kit and cards. Failing that a relative in the UK is an option to get the card activated.
Its all a bit of a grey area that no one (for no one, read Sky) cares about.

I've not used them but this company can sort you out: http://www.skyinfrance.co.uk/
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a DIY sort of guy really and don't want to depend on a company in France.
I was wondering if anyone had done it by themselves using a UK address. Anyway, I have a fair idea after Googling a bit more. It looks like Ebay for the DIgibox and then a three way call with family in UK and Sky to activate.
I'll let you know how it goes!

It is worth getting a meter to check the signal. A Sky box takes time to recognise the signal so you either point the dish all around the "sky" looking for the signal or you point it to 18.6 degrees east of south and use a meter at the dish much easier.
Where are you North or South of France, dish size is important. In the North you can use a standard 40cm dish but as you go further south you need 60 cm , 80cm etc I think in Spain a 100cm dish is needed. I'm sure someone will say "I'm in Nice with a 40cm dish " but your signal quality is improved with a bigger dish.
If you get the english language newspapers for France the small adds are full of companies offering to set you up and connect you.
You can get Free view from Sky which is a one off payment for the card.

I installed all our kit myself, bought from one of the companies over here, the only thing you need someone in the UK for is a UK address to have the card shipped to. Calling to have the card activated can be done from over here.
