Looking for pointers for any useful websites, or recommendations for companies/individuals for tax advice for 2 scenarios:

>Living in France, but working & paid in the UK. Time spent in each would be roughly equal & we would own property in both. To further complicate matters, we own rental property in the UK & would retain this.

>Living & employed in the UK, owning a holiday property in France - which would be rented out on short term holiday lets (I'm aware that every man & his dog does the same & thinks they'll get a free house out of it).

I'm guessing some of you will have been through this before, so any help appreciated.

I would say that this is generally beyond the scope of forums and websites.

A friend of a friend deals with the tax and employment affairs of expats working for a top-five accountancy firm. The only place they never employ staff on local contacts is in France.

You would need to be UK resident for more than 180 days each year for scenario 1 to work. Anything else and I would say that you must seek professional advice before you commit.

I worked as a UK consultant for a couple of years using scenario 2, until I became French resident for tax purposes in 2007. It worked fine provided that you do expect to pay some French tax on the holiday home income.

Good luck with your plans

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not after specific advice - more where/who to go to for it, or any websites that would give a general overview.

Scenario 1 would be for a holiday home, so main home/work/tax etc all in the UK.

Scenario 2 would see home/missus in France with me commuting to work in the UK, with the time in each country roughly equal.
