I did the Alsace wine trail last year after Spa Italia.Fantastic route. We just pulled up at a town or village and found a hotel or B&b. Easory really. Be prepaired to pay top dollar at the wine vineyards for your wine though. I find it cheaper in my local supermarket, maybe stop a calais on your way,to compare prices.
We finished the trip with a visit to the Mulhouse motor museum.Fantastic. We drove our Fiat Coupe 2litre 20vt. Brilliant car.

The Mulhouse motor museum is fantastic, well worth it. How many Royales? bounce

So many lovely little towns, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Kintzheim, Colmar etc.

The local cuisine however, leaves a lot to be desired. Not my favourite part of France gastronomically. Unless you like white offal sausage and the worst cabbage imaginable smile

Plenty of good food if you go off the beaten track, though certainly much less fussy than other parts of France.

You can reach the Alsace in one hit if you're travelling from the South of England. Luckily, I made some notes last time I did it http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... We've also stopped over in Nancy, and that's lovely. I like it way more than Rheims, which is relatively soul-less for some reason.

Hi
You may also try the roads west and north-west of Wissembourg (northern Alsace and into Germany :-)))
Enjoy.
