Day trip from Angouleme

Coming down to Angouleme for Tours des Remparts in September.Would appreciate ideas for good drive and destination for the Saturday after watching the tour start from Supermarket

Why not just follow the tour as a mobile spectator?

From what I have read previously, they stop so many times for Cognac, it should not be too difficult

Really fancied a "good drive" somewhere perhaps returning via Cognac later in afternoon.Suspect following tour could be very tedious

We followed the tour for a bit last year .. it was ok, but we felt a bit of a fraud in the Barchetta, and they don't let you in to the interesting bit at lunchtime anyway. This year we'll find a café en route and watch them go passed ..

Take yourself of on a drive around Montron,Montbron area.Maybe into the Limousan area.Nice driving roads.
