Hi all

seriously considering parking sensors for the front of my car. They do have a known side effect of jamming other laser sources, although this can be switched off either by the unit automatically, or just be disabling the device when on the move.

Even if disabled the box on the front of the car is visible (if you looked hard). So at a toll booth, even if one was not a bandit (ie had not been noted by the copper up the road for any kind of numerical naughtiness) over in France they look for plates on vehicles radioed to them from the auto-route, pull them out an book them.

If in that process one's parking sensor became apparent to an eagle eyed officer, what would be the likely outcome?

The sensor literature explains that it IS a parking aid.....

I'd like to fit one, but also intend to travel around the EU somewhat with the same car and would rather not remove the device.

Top tip, open your eyes and you will see what you're going to hit rather than hear a beep.My guess is that you would have to prove to the police that your sensor is not a jammer/radar detecter rather than a sensor, even if you show them the paperwork my hunch is still an accompanied run to the cash machine.

I think low kerbs might be an occasional hazard to my spoiler... But what about a practical demo? It really does work as a park sensor!

nice try, but ... If works as a laser jammer they really wouldn't care if it washed the windows as well, it would still be expensive.

They don't tend to stand there debating ..

No, the Police won't believe you. French drivers seem to use their bumpers as parking sensors.

Would they notice a small blax box under a the numberplate. I won't be speeding on autoroutes so no other reasons to be suspicious.... 130k is a sensible cruise with a long way to go..smile

If you really need front parking sensors just get the same as the ones put on the backs of cars. No question over what they are then.
