Anyone living in/around Le Mans?

I moved to Le Mans at Christmas to be with my partner who has a job at the Université du Maine.

Before coming over I ran a small garage in the UK specialising in VWs, and found a closed thread here http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48... that asks pretty much the same questions I want to ask

I've tried to get in touch with the thread starter but to no avail. So is there anyone else in Le Mans or La Sarthe who does anything interesting, preferably automotive related?

I'd be really interested in talking to you if there is.

We don't live in our French house, but do own a holiday home near La Chartre-sur-le-Loir down in the SE corner of La Sarthe.

If you're thinking about opening a garage or similar I know it's not easy to do, and the market there is very different to the UK. A customer of mine moved from the Channel Islands to France, closed his business there and opened a new one in France and asked me to provide a letter stating that he had run a similar business for the last 10 years and we had no complaints on file about him.
