Expats with UK Property
Discussion
Hi all,
Anyone live in France but still have property rented / mortgaged in the UK. If so, how do you go about continuing the payments (assuming you're paid in Euros!) - Do you transfer money across on a monthly basis, or do one big lump every six months or so to avoid transfer charges?
I'd be interested to hear any examples or decent advice regarding this. I'm moving to Paris around Spring and will be renting out a 1-bed apartment which I'm currently living in . . .
Thanks in advance . . . .

The same principle applies to those of us living in the UK and paying for our mortgages on holiday homes
Companies like hifx.co.uk can anchor an exchange rate for a period of time - it's something of a gamble as to when to lock yourself in. Then you can transfer funds periodically, as you please.
My personal point of view is that the Pound is likely to get stronger up until the general election and then get jittery, before the result of the election will decide some further direction.
