Recap... I have an English Tuscan for sale on here - potential French buyer.
Initially french buyer wanted a copy of the V5 for his insurance? ...... is this necessary?
I have sent a copy but removed the confidential bits... my address, engine and chassis number, which doesnt convince him thats its legit, but Im loathed to send him full details of the cars identity at this stage in case he's a scammer.....
What exactly does he need to get the car onto French soil? I am going to offer to pay his flight cost home if he comes over and finds out that the car is not mine or a write off or crap(which clearly it isnt).
His argument is he must have the chassis number for his insurance? is this usual in France??
Im clearly a bit concerned...
The language barrier and the lack of understanding of the legislation may spoil a potentially good deal.
Has anyone had a similar issue .... how best do I resolve it?
Obviously if we meet in person it may well be we are being suspicious for nothing but its a worry..
thanks
John
PS French buyer has already sent me a copy of his passport so Im reasonably happy he is legit.

He definately does NOT need the chassis number for his insurance-what a load of bks! At most he needs the numberplate number.Initially french buyer wanted a copy of the V5 for his insurance? ...... is this necessary?

BUT...! As far as I know the Tuscan does not have homologation for France so I don't see how any French insurance company could take this on.
Would you like me to have a word with him for you?
