If I bring a car from the UK to use and leave in France, do I still need to pay UK car tax ?

If you keep the car on foreign plates it has to be road legal and tax paid in the country of registration.

Whether anyone would check the tax is another matter....

Yip you will if it is over 3 years old you will need to come back to UK for an MOT as well. The car must be road legal for the contry of registration. Also check your insurance as most policies will only cover up to 90days therafter it is road traffic act only while abroad.
