can anyone tell me if there is a direct train service between paris and either thionville or nancy? how long would this journey take???

have had a look at sncf website but those stations aren't listed.

Should be listed?

Paris est - Nancy by TGV about 1,5 hours
Then TER from Nancy to Thionville about 40 mins.

my mistake, i meant metz or thionville, not nancy!

No difference.
Paris est - Metz via TGV and Metz to Thionville by TER slightly quicker than the times above.

As you appear to be a French train novice - don't forget that you can't just walk on to a TGV, you need a reservation (although these can be bought not long before the train arrives) smile
