Question-

I've heard that the Route is a fantastic driving road and I may give it a go
next week. I'm near Aix-en-Provence so was planning to maybe head over to Sisteron
and then take the route either north for a bit and then back or down to Cannes
and back to Aix. I've got an eight month old kid so not really got the option of
a full day blast to Cannes then Grenoble so if I was only doing half the route
which is best, North from Sisteron or South?.

Start in Grenoble, finish in Nice. Don't forget there's a few other fantastic roads around it that IMO are better, but some of the RN85 sections are superb . . .

Thanks for that, looks like up to Sisteron and then south then. It means wife can see the
sights in Sisteron, I get to do a bit of the Route(although it's in a Ford Ka!) and not too
long a day for the kid.

Planning for a day to Millau viaduct aswell but I'll have to bribe wife with a day in Cassis
first!

Fantastic bit of road, try the D803 from Antibes to Cannes as well if you going to go back along the coast.

Leaving for Antibes tomorrow for the last reccy before we reside there cloud9

Looks like the weather has turned a little though frown

Here's a statement then:

If you go to the Millau bridge, you're neglecting some bloody fantastic roads and general driving areas to the east thereof. The bridge is great to see, (been there), but its a bit of a pain to get good views of it, you don't see much from it, and the general area is more busy and definitely not as much fun as the french alps, vercours, massif, etc.

Well what a great plan that was. Hired a car for 4 days, I don't have a car here as I just walk to work, to show wife and kid the sights as they came out for a couple of weeks holiday.
Wife likes shopping and sunbathing so plan was 4 days = 1 shopping, 1 sunbathing, 1 Route-de +
1 Millau.

Nope... 4 days = 2 shopping, 2 sunbathing!
