Wonderful they are, these civil sevants. Yesterday morning I was happily working away on my computer and - wow! - suddenly no telephone line or ADSL. So, at the usual extra cost, I phoned the help line on my mobile and they said it was my fault since according to them my line was in perfect order. I insisted and yesterday evening got a text message saying they'd come sometime in the next few days to see what was the problem. They came an hour ago, but rang asking where I was; I said at home of course, waiting for them. No, I wasn't there they said. I asked where they were and then all became clear. Yesterday they had for some reason got it into their heads that I had moved and transferred my line to another house! They could't even find my house! Ah, well, all is now well but to be without a phone or the internet is like having your arms cut off!

Sounds to me like you've been a victim of a "de-groupage total". This is where someone opts out of FT and takes Free for example and the FT line is disconnected. This happened to us and because we refused to pay FT to reconnect the line (the cheeky bds) we went 9 months with no land line.

Bon courage is all I have to say.
