Orogin O2 in France
Discussion
I use an Origin O2 in England. This is a GPS unit but also has a laser\radar dector mode.
I will be travelling in France next week and will leave the Origin at home as I understand that the French police do not like them at all. My question is am I likely to get any grief if stopped over the detector bit that will still be stuck to my windscreen (very difficult to remove as it's wired in)? Obviously the detector will not be connected to anything so completely useless.
Any advice would be appreciated.

GPS based warning devices are fine in France, for either fixed or mobile camera locations.
However, if you have anything that could detect a camera, laser or other speed trap device or jam/block it from working prepare yourself for a hefty fine and to watch your prized gadget be smashed to bits at the roadside.
From the sounds of it, your laser detector is hard wired so presumably always on. If they point the laser at you, get a reading back saying you have a detector then it's "tombez les culottes" time for you so my advice would be to disconnet it and leave it at home unfortunately.
